Team Building: Leader, Members and Skill Conditions
Team Building
Build a useful first formation without forcing a single generation or blindly stacking five-star cards.

The formation screen mixes two related roles: the Leader you select and the five Member cards in the lineup. Community testing indicates that a talent can provide leader effects without requiring the same talent's card in every member slot.
Start with the leader outfit effect
Open the outfit effect and read its activation requirement before choosing cards. Some effects favor a parameter, type, generation or another visible condition. A five-star card that does not help the chosen condition can be less useful for that specific formation than a developed lower-rarity card that does.
Understand the three card skill groups
Launch players describe the skills this way:
- Special: activates once during the chart, following the lineup order.
- Active: has an activation chance and can trigger during the song.
- Passive: remains active while its listed requirement is satisfied.
Read the actual text on your cards. Do not assume every Score Up, activation, judgment or recovery skill has the same value or duration.
A safe first-team workflow
- Choose the favorite talent/outfit you want to lead with.
- Write down only the conditions visible on that outfit and its Board.
- Filter your owned cards for members that satisfy those conditions.
- Prefer a developed card over an untouched card when the synergy difference is small.
- Keep one survival option if you are still failing charts; replace it with scoring once clears are stable.
- Test on one song, then adjust one slot at a time.
You are not locked to one generation
Generation and type conditions are bonuses, not a rule that forbids mixed favorites. For story and ordinary clears, a comfortable mixed team is fine. Optimize harder only when you deliberately chase score or a future event asks for a specific condition.
Leader, member and support investments
The Holomem Board has effects tied to how the talent is used. Red leader nodes matter for the selected leader, blue member nodes matter when that talent's card is in the lineup, and yellow/green support nodes are reported to work more broadly. Read the full Board priority guide before spending heavily.
Avoid launch-week tier-list traps
A useful tier list must state the card rarity, duplicates, Board investment, outfit effect, song and tested objective. A list that simply ranks talents without those conditions is decoration, not evidence.
